finding a maiden name

Her husband's name would also be on any child's birth certificate: another good reason for buying it. Once you have those details, you can think about finding marriage details for them. |

I am stuck on one branch of my family because in the 1901 census my great grandmother was shown as Matilda Wood - Widow. How can I trace back from this? The previous census was too far back - her surname would not have been Wood then. I have no record of her husband. Any ideas? |

If you find the birth certificate of one of her children it will have her maiden name on it. Kath. x |

Would it be on her death cert? It is on Scottish ones anyway. Marion |
