June You little darling you!!!! many many thanks. Had second thoughts on what everyone said about his father being a made up name....If Henry was only a Gen lab. and Father John was a bricklayer....seems a bit odd that he diddnt follow in his fathers footsteps dont you think? I hate liars! I hate Henry and I hate John I also hate this hobby!! Not really lol Thanks again for all your time and effort. Gerri x |

The Henry Ford that June found in 1861 looks like a good bet to me. Do you have a reason for discounting him? Kath. x |

Do you only have John Ford's name on the marriage certificate for Henry or have you got other proof of his existence? If so could he be a 'made up' father to cover the fact that Henry was illegitimate? Many illegitimate children suddenly acquire a 'deceased' father for their marriage to give a sense of respectability in front of the in-laws. Kath. x |

Birth registration wasn't compulsory till 1875.........he may simply not have been registered........... And 'deceased' fathers were often a cover for illegitimacy............ Reg |
