Why do things have to get complicated? I think that I have found the family of Harry Bardsley. On the Marriage cert his father is given as Robert Bardsley, a "Journeyman carpenter", deceased. The 1891 census shows Robert living in Ashton-under-Lyne. He is described as a Joiner., born 1851. His wife is Fanny, also born 1851, and among the family is Harry, born 1877, aged 14, but married. Must be a mistake there. In the 1901 census his year of birth is given as 1876. All assistance gratefully received. Without all your help I would not have got as far as I have so far. |

Some of Ashton-under-Lyne is among the missing Census 'pieces' for 1851, so not all info available for that year |

Yes, certainly. Not much so far, but it is not a branch that I will be looking too closely at. Harry Bardsley married Amy Spencer in March 1916. The exact date is indistinct. They had one child, Alec H. Bardsley, who sadly died aged 2 months. Harry was ten years older than Amy, and he obviously died some time before 1936, as Amy married John Stevenson in 1936. Amy herself died in 1954. At least, that is what I think, but the certificates will prove it one way or the other. I am hoping to find children of either husband's, in the hope of finding living descendants who may remember Amy. Thanks once again for all your help. |

There was only one child of the marriage to Bardsley, and by the time she married Stevenson, she was nearly 50..................... |

I made contact with them a couple of years ago. One very productive, the other not so. We have met up with a second cousin of my wife through GR. |

Well, that has muddied the waters somewhat. The Death cert for Amy Stevenson arrived today, and her death was reported by L. Sills, her sister. I am fairly certain that her sister Lily died unmarried. So I probably have the wrong Amy. More checking necessary. |

According to the death cert, Amy was living at 44 Broomhill Rd at the time of her death, as was her sister Lily. Actually, that might be 77. |
