- if that system happened in, for instance, rootschat site, posts by me quite a while ago would not have been seen by a person with mutual ancestral family, and that would have been a great pity not to have had contact and been able to share fascinating formation. :(

Agree, Joy.

Back when I joined Genes there was a "Trying to Find Board" which wasn't threaded and has now been incorporated into the " Find Ancestors" board. I posted on that board and was contacted 5 years later my a niece. If a 4 week rule was brought in, that sort of contact would be lost.

Personally I hate it when people have deleted posts on a thread that is later revived (possibly because the OP has new info) and gaps appear in the thread.
