The above is very area specific (Middleton, Rochdale area) but very useful if you are searching for people/events in that area and goes back well into the 1800s with articles from both the Middleton Guardian and, before that, the Middleton Albion. Once you have the reference (i.e. page number, column, etc) you can get copies from the Local Studies Library and I found the response very prompt indeed.
