I saw the actual records last night. Can't now, but am on a different PC (at work) so it may be that or maybe a glich.

Hadn`t checked the original images myself,

But would be suprised if it was transcription only as Ancestry usually give you image access on their records.....

Maybe it is a glitch as the records were only released yesterday...

I have just looked and the original images are there, but not really that much more helpful if you are looking for a private soldier. The officers give a bit more detail.

Nevertheless very interesting.

I can't view the images either, of the Military Campaign Medal database, although I can view the DCM and Naval ones. Some people can view them , so they are definitely there. It's been like this since yesterday - very annoying.

RobG Report 9 Nov 2010 14:26

Checked on another PC and can see the images fine.

George_of_Westbury Report 9 Nov 2010 15:22

Just checked the UK, Naval Medal and Award Rolls, 1793-1972 i can access the images no problem.

Looked for info on my Dad who served in the Royal Navy from 1937 to 1949 but found nothing, strange that i have all his medals from his service during ww2, i wonder why he is not listed.

George

I think the description of the Naval medals is very vague. Possibly the database only covers the "special" awards for the WW2 period such as the MM and not the "normal", more common medals.

Annielaurie.

Thanks for your reply, i knew you would know the answer.

Many thanks

Someone told me that the images could be seen if the enhanced viewer is downloaded.
