Hi , My ggrand dad George William Smith 1873 - 1949 I cant find him in those 2 census. I got him in 1901 and 1911 by using his wife name. I know it is so common name!! I wonder if I get his death certificate will it help me more or not?

Where did he say he was born on the 1901 census? What was his wife's name? Do you know when and where they married?

On 1901 Hampton, surrey and 1911 Kingston, surrey. It is only few miles different and they were living in Wapping, East London. They got married in 1895 in Wapping. She is Adelaide Alice Hobbs. I did wonder if George William is his real name? It was stated on his marriage certificate.

Yeah thats them,
Margaret, she sometime go by Adelaide Alice but real name is Alice Ada Hobbs

He is either William George or George William

this looks like his birth reg......

there are no George Williams in that timescale born Kingston

His death is mar 1946 stepney 1c 208

Thank you to you all for help, I will get the birth certificate and hope it is the right one. I will keep looking for him in 1881 and 1891 census, maybe he is with relative rather than parents.

Williams age is slightly out, but i put up all the family info as i thought the names may give a connection.

Who were the witnesses on their marriage cert? Was William a Gardner before he became a General Lab.?

The witness to their marriage were George William HOBBS and Charlotte SMITH, it is similar to the faathers name!
