Hi everyone

Arthur .......... that certainly sounds more positive!

Enjoy your holiday ...... and forget this nonsense until you get back!

Sue .... glad that your gt granddaughter is home.

I thought the soft spots (there are 2) were to allow the baby's head to change shape slightly with the skull bones slipping over one another as the baby passes through the birth canal.

The big front one usually closes entirely at 18-24 months, while the much smaller one at the back closes at about 6 weeks after birth.

we'll be away for a few days from next Tuesday on.

Hi Everyone

I finally have my eyes back though it does feel a little strange looking out of my new readers but I am sure I will get used to them.

Baby is doing fine ...keeping her parents up at night but that is normal I think until they get used to having a baby in the house and they get her into a routine.

Arthur your news sound more possitive .

Just a short one as I have only just walked in with my readers and I had to give you all the good news, will pop in again tonight.

Cynthia Report 27 Apr 2012 11:30

That's very positive news Arthur......you have worked hard at this so you must be feeling quite 'chipper' :-D

Actually, I was very interested to see you mention Kingsdown. My maternal side is from around that area........Seal, Crockenhill, Hartley etc. Small world :-D

When I hear about young babies keeping their parents awake at night, I am grateful that we have children when we are young........i really don't understand those women who want them in their 50's and 60's - it's such tiring work...... :-S

I have a super tidy house ready for the visit of the person who is coming to do an 'assessment' on my OH to see if there is any help they can give him. Will be glad when it's all over to be honest. :-(

Had better think if I have missed any corners anywhere.

Love to you all........Cx.

Hi Everyone

When I think back to the birth of our first child I was very young.... 20 but I managed very well and by the time the second one arrived 3yrs later I new it all.

My second child Wendy was a dream baby she was sleeping all night from the age of three weeks ,I had to wake her up to feed her ,she is 39 now and still loves her bed.

I am enjoying just having a look around the boards ...Boy have I missed the boards, now I should be able to help out a bit and do my own tree again .

Looking forward to the London Olympics...... I always enjoy all kinds of Sport but the Swimming is my favorite.

I am off to watch the Football Aussie Rules that is.

Talk again tomorrow.

Sue i will gladly swap the Uk with you - i am fed up hearing about the dreaded event in the summer - because of the company i work for - we are not even allowed to speak the name - as it s a rival Credit card/Bank.

My get out clause - which seems to work is - the special event which happens every four years & just happens to be in our capital city this year - sorry we cannot help with any tickets or special bookings for this event.

Arthur - sounds very promising

Sylvia - bon Voyage.

Cynthia - the house looks amazing - i can see it sparkling in the sun from here.

Funny enough its wonderful sunshine here today - we are bracing ourselves for the torrential rain on sunday.

Its been manic here this week - first time I have had a lunch break all week. Even then its only 15 mins.

Will try & stay longer tomorrow .

Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Sue ..... glad to hear that you've got your new glasses :-D

I don't understand mums these days!

My grandson did not sleep through the night for more than a year :-0

Daughter co-slept with him for about 4 months .......... meaning father slept on the spare bed.

She fed on demand, which worked at, usually, something like every 2 hours.

Granted, I bottle fed her ................ but she was sleeping through the night at about 4 weeks

Sally ................... Vancouver IOC and the federal government spent over $1 billion on security alone in 2010 .......... that's around £400,000

To use the phrase from a well known song "What a difference a day makes"

Its been beautiful today - too warm to wear a coat. Yesterday you would have been drowned if you stepped out the door.

Still have a hose pipe ban - still have a half empty water butt as well - no idea where the water went -

It gives us a good reason to mutter about things.

Hope Josie is doing well on her training course.

Evelyn - we miss you loads

Reece hows the packing going.

Robert - healing thoughts to you both.

Loving thoughts to all the others on the thread

Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Very good news indeed Robert - you must both be very relieved and happy. <3 <3

I don't understand new mums either Sylvs. Where you and I would make sure the children were tucked up snugly in bed by 7.30 at the latest, you see parents taking them out for meals at all times of the night. :-S
Mind you, maybe our parents thought the way we did things was odd!

I was very pleased at the weekend because my OH was able to go to a birthday party with me. Because of his meds etc., we haven't been out socially together for absolutely ages........probably well over 12 months. It made such a nice change... :-D :-D

Got a visitor coming soon so had better sort myself out..

Love to all, Cx

Reece Report 3 May 2012 19:47

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry not to have looked in before now but the last few weeks have been very hectic. Our house has been on the market for two weeks and after a lot of "viewers" and return visits from some we now have plenty of offers and tomorrow they are being asked for their final bids by the estate agent.

Today I was asked to choose the paint colour for the interior of my "new" home in Dorset but not given much choice!

What wonderful news for Robert's wife and Robert - I send warmest good wishes to them both.

A brief message for Anne - re the Chamberlain query - I haven't heard from the NZ connection but have the birth certficate from GRO and, as I thought, Alfred born to Elizabeth (and James) as was Charlotte but no record for her as yet. So many thanks for all your kind help.

Good news for Cynthia's OH, too - it does make a difference to be able to get out. A lift to your spirits too, Cynthia.

Now I will have to look back at your posts to catch up, hopefully, over the weekend.

Have a very enjoyable May Bank Holiday, everyone and, as Sylvia says, "do behave!"

Love

Hi Everyone

So sorry to have been missing so long but I got the shock of my life last weekend .

My dad can down to see us on sat and came in the house sat and had a cuddle with the new Baby, I caught sight of a man walking past my window so I went outside to see who it was and the man turned around it was my uncle Pete from the uk ,the one that lost his wife last year when I went back for the funeral.
I was so pleased to see him ,it was a big surprise I can tell you ...lots of hugs and tears.
We have been doing the tourist bit all week as they have left him with me for a week and a half so have been flat out.

Robert that is fantastic news my best wishes to you both.

Baby seems to be settled now and all her health issues are sorted she is doing well.

Weather now turning and it is raining today so my Uncle is right at home,my Cousins say the UK have been having a load of rain but say they need it .
We are off to town later to do a bit of shopping so will try to get back on a gain tonight but my uncle likes my computer so I don't mind as it helps him stay in touch with him grownup children and grandchildren ...don't want him getting to homesick.

My love to you all
Reece nice to see you back.

Hello........ :-D

Some lovely news from friends on here.

Sally - some churches do wonderful flower displays don't they? We have got one coming up in June and we serve lunches and things too.......really good community atmosphere at these sort of events....

Gosh Reece, you're really lucky to have to many offers for your house - especially in these financially straitened times........must be a lovely house.

What colour scheme have you gone for and why such a limited choice?? :-S

What a fantastic surprise Sue - I can just imagine what a shock it was to see your uncle go past your window. Hope he continues to have a lovely time with you. Enjoy <3

I've been hectic this week too what with one thing and another. OH has had two lots of assessment now and the most wearing part was all the questions for their paperwork....... :-S

We have now have an extra rail for the stairs and a couple of other bits of equipment are on order. We can asked for him to be re-assessed as and when we feel he needs it.

Went to see my once poorly friend yesterday and spent two hours helping her clear out her wardrobe - well, two of them anyway! The back of my car was groaning with the load of stuff to take to the charity shop!

She tells me that our next job is to go out and buy a new carpet for her bedroom................ :-S

I can feel the need for a coffee coming on so I will say bye for a while.

Lots of love to you all Cx

Hi all

we got back from our trip yesterday, but have been catching up with stuff around the house etc.

The meeting was great, the food was very good, and OH duly got his award (plus a lapel pin!)

The weather, however, was the pits!

We literally had everything from sun to snow!

It really came in sequence ............... sun, rain, sun, heavy rain, sun. Then we got into the mountainous sections .............. sun, rain, sun, hail, sleet, sun, snow!!

We did have to cross 4 mountain passes, ranging from about 1200 m to over 1500m.

<<<<<< My new avatar is from Friday around lunchtime .... we had already crossed 2 higher mountain passes than this one with just a few flakes on one of them, then this!

There are in fact 5 or 6 mountain ranges, running north south, between the coast and the Rockies.

Some great news on here!!

and so it seems that you did behave while I was away
