Can't find james Hadley born Wednesbury in 1851 but hold onto this as a *possible*
He is a 'glass Blower' which might fit in with later census occupations as Forgeman/furnaceman.
Unless you have reason to believe he was already in London by 1851?

obtain the death certificate it would give the spouses name.

I'm in agreement with Kathleen Bell, I don't think your couple married.


I queried Elizabeth Jennings and her birth place just incase she was James's mother remarried.

The only Jennings/Hadley marriage I can find in Poplar is this one:-

Yes this is them. Both have mistranscriptions, eg. Maller is Amelia and Madoda is Medora. Amelia and James last child Kate, is my grandmother. I have a history for Amelia but was hoping to find a marriage so i could take James further back.

The nearest James Hadley I can find born near 1854 is in Bethnal Green in 1856. A James Hadley died in the Poplar area in 1854.

Yes I do have them on census in 1881. They were living in West Ham. James was born in Wednesbury in 1830 and Amelia in Bromley in 1835.

They had 8 children the first being born in 1854 in Poplar

I can't find a marriage for them on FreeBMD so perhaps they never married.
