I wonder if any of you lovely people can help me.
I have recently found out that my father was not actually my father at all. I know the name of the man who is my birth father, and I think I have found his birth in the birth records, I have also found what I believe to be his marriage in the marriage records. I know where he lived in 1970 but I don't know where else to look to try and find him after that.
I am from Lancashire but now live in Scotland. any tips help would be appreciated. I don't want to post names/dates etc on the public forum in case I upset anyone who doesn't know about this. I don't mind giving the information via private message :-)
Thanks in advance.

Hi Gillian,

Have you tried 192.com?

Does he have a common surname?

Rose

Yes it's a common surname but an uncommon first name. I have found someone with the same name in the Lancs/Manchester (on 192) area but the age range is wrong...unless it's his son of course.

I've just checked, not related as the maiden name of the mother is wrong.

Thanks Rose I'll PM you later what I know. I think I've managed to find the 3 children who are potentially half siblings

Just a thought...
The person with the same unusual forename could still be linked.
Maybe the maiden name shown against him in the birth index, is for the same person who married your father. She might have been a widow or divorcee, so married not using her maiden name.

I looked at my info on www.192.com and the age range they have listed for me is way out.

There is a lady called Jean on the Records Office Board who is offering electoral roll look-ups. You could ask her if your father is listed on there. I'll see if I can find the thread and nudge it up to the top of the board for you.

Thanks everyone for all your help. I have sent some information to Jean and to Rose. With some delving I think I have managed to find 2 of the children on Friends Reunited! Still trying to find the Father though.

Gillian,

I think you may be off with his year of birth by 3 years. I have found a birth for him in 1943 and a death that matches in the US. Will send you the details. Sorry........

Hi Rose,

I found the death that you are talking about too. I found the year 1940 though this site but maybe it is off and I think 1943 is correct.
Such a shame as he died quite young :-(

Gillian Report 4 Mar 2009 23:51

I did a search on the area he died on the USA Whitepages and came up with the following on Intelius:

XXXX Ogden
Age: 65
Birth Date: Available

2 Addresses in Lake City, TN
1 Address in Everett, WA
+ 3 More Addresses (click to see)
– Addresses
1 Address in Mukilteo, WA
1 Address in Tulalip, WA
1 Address in Duvall, WA

I'm confused now because if he died in 1997 he would have been 54, the addresses seems correct above because it looks like he moved to TN in 1973, but why do Intellius have him as being aged 65? to be 65 that would have to be quite current? that doesn't seem to add up?

Gillian,

Hi Rose,

I'm not denying he died but the one listed who we think it is, ie born 1943, died 1997 Duvall, Washington is Listed as XXXXX D Ogden (Middle name D) the one we have born 1943 is XXXX C Ogden, different middle initial?
