sorry Julia

I don't have the faintest idea how to help you.

Maybe some one will .......... or you could start a thread, and then someone will direct you to the correct thread!

I had this problem, so I disabled Flash player when on this site and enabled it when I need for other sites. Luckily, my Norton now has adblocker - went back to 360 version one.

Version 2 doesn't have ad blocking! You could try disabling Shockwave ActivieX Control, if you are using IE7. Click on Tools, the Manage Addons, then Manage Add-ons. then Disable Add-ons, find Shockwave and disable it. It won't remove the ads but should stop them flashing.

The advertisers are shooting themselves in the foot, because I might notice an ad if it is sitting quietly, but turning off the flashing ads means I can't see it at all. I often wonder if these 'flashers' switch them off their own home computers LOL

Potty - I have Norton 360 version 2, I think. I did notice there were 2 downloads available for 360, so maybe my one doesnt have it :-(

Maryjane-sue,

Which version of Norton are you using? I found that the add-on pack for some versions doesn't have ad blocking.

If by chance an advert caught my eye and interest, which is very rarely, then I would open a new browser window and find the web site on there by either searching or typing in the address - ANYTHING than click on the links on here! lol To my mind that only encourages advertising.

And I still cant suss out Nortons! lol

it seems to me that the idea is to make us use Reply

........... the Add just didn't work at all for me on the first day, apart from a slight "jump" then it settled back onto the same place I'd started from.

I'm guessing that the bright young things decided that Add should not be functional in the sense that we've all come to expect, but should take one to the Reply button.

It does make some kind of sense ...... unless you've been used to something else happening!!

(except I can't see them, so I don't know who they are .... and I'm not in the UK anyway!!)

It is tempting to contact the advertisers directly and explain that you will boycott their products and will advise your friends to do the same, as you find their advertising so intrustive.

Potty Report 13 Dec 2008 14:03

Maryjane-sue, open Norton, then click on Task & Settings at the top of the box. Set up Add on Pack should be at the bottom right.

Is anybody else having problems adding to a thread? When I clicked Add to post to this one, the cursor just jumped to the top of the screen. Clicked on reply and everything was fine.

I don't have Norton, but Firefox with Ad-Blocker Plus installed works just as well.

........................ the threads now take up about 14" of my screen, and the "stuff" on the left only about 1". BIG change from yesterday!!!

Gill

........ thank you again!! I'm glad it has helped you

Cynthia

......... I've now also tried the tip to change the colour of the screen and the text

Brilliant!!!!!!

It does change the colour of the whole desktop though, some people may not like that.

and it changes the colour on ALL internet sites, which you may not like

There's also a thread on General about changing the colour of the screen. I'm impressed Sylvia!!
Yes, I feel more centralised now - yesterday I felt the wording was all on the right hand side. Maybe someone IS taking notice of the comments!!

my Ad Block with Norton seems to be working just fine

but then I haven't been bothered by any ads on here or on FR for the last couple of years (the length of time I have been using this feature)!

Anyone noticed that the width of the threads seems to ahve been increased (and thus the amount of "waste" space to the left has decreased)?
