Hi Derek, Am I in the right place this time? You told me to find your thread and I hope this is it.
I am looking for the marriage of Eliza Bunting born in Dore or Totley to William Barlow born in Flixton Lancs.
It must be around 1830 as their son William was born in 1832. She died in 1850 I think and he died in the Ecclesall area in 1851.
I think she might have been born at Fanshawe gate as there is a record of the same name for there but I am stuck on the marriage. As their children were born around there I cannot think that they married elsewhere. I would be very grateful if you can help me. Regards Rita

Hi Derek hoping you can help with the Greatorexes of Alvaston. Nearly every tree out there in Ancestry, Family Search etc lets me trace my ancestors back to the 1650s. I would love it to be true as I was brought up there too but I think there is a 'break in the chain'...or maybe everyone else has some info I don't.
I can trace back with reasonable certainty as follows: (all Greatorexes born Alvaston)
Susannah Greatorex b1846 child of
Henry Greatorex b1821 m. Sarah Rushton & child of
Joseph Greatorex b 1795 m. Hannah Daniel &child of
John Greatorex b1741m. Ann Wakefield
then pedigrees always give John's parents (and his brothers Joseph & Thomas) as Joseph Greatorex b. 1710 m. Elizabeth Ellison.
However, the only christening records I can find for Alvaston show a John Grettrix ch. 14 March 1741, father Joseph G. but mother MARY. Ditto for Thomas Grettrix ch. 2 Oct 1739.
Thanks Derek.

Hello Kay..sorry about the delay in getting back to you..I ws looking for you on my other Thread...now I've found you i can get on with some work for you.

EDIT 14.32.............first impressions are that it looks quite simple.......I have what appears to be an unbroken line from JOHN GRETTRIX 23.09.1710..son of ADAM b 26.02.1675 and Ann...............John Grettrix/Greatorix marries ELIZABETH ELLISON 14.07.1730..and their son Joseph is baptised 01.04.1737.....brother of John 1741 ...etc etc.....but of course I need to collate it all properly..and get back to you..

Derek.
