Thank you one and all for these, I will trawl through them and order. The one from farnworth looks promising. I suppose my mum could be wrong about the age when she died. It would help if some of these people were still around to tell you. Thanks again I will look at the ones you have sent me. This woman has been a pain from start to finish, she changed her age on census' changed her name on census' even though she wasn't married. She has lied about everything. Thanks again you are all wonderful

I know she was buried at Farnworth Cemetary and lived in Farnworth, I should write to them I suppose. I feel like I am banging my head against a brick wall. It took me over 10 years to find her birth which I eventually did of course. The one I ordered was Mary Alice Holden died 1935 8c 384. Did she die? or is she still amongst us LOL. Thanks for all your help everybody

Do you have an address where Mary lived?
Using old electoral lists you could ask for a search to see when she 'disappears' from that. That might give an indication of when she died. ( remember lists are compiled c.October and published the following year)
Using last known address you should be able to check which churches / cemeteries are nearby and then burial lists could be checked and matched with known facts. The fact that stones have been moved shouldn't matter to searches. The records will be somewhere.

Have ordered first one from Barry , keep your fingers crossed for me and thanks for all your help. Christine that site is good because I can actually write about other strange happenings in our family. Like why is my great grandfather buried with 2 complete random people, even on headstone. Thanks again

Have you got her birth cert for her age?

You may find this site useful, there may be an email address for you to contact them and check the registers rather than sending for a few different certs.

http://www.boltonmuseums.org.uk/bolton-archives/archives-indexes/cemetery-registers/index_html#farnworth

Just had a quick look at the home page and they will do a 15min search free of charge.

Christine - Little Bolton - just looked it up and unless there was a hospital there at one time I don't think this could be her, it is not really close to where she lived in Farnworth/Ringley. Thanks anyway, I will keep number of cert just in case the other one isn't the correct one. Thanks

Dynamic Donna

Dynamic Donna Report 22 Sep 2008 08:27

Thanks again Barry, Christine what do they class as Little Bolton but will order that one as well.

Portland Rose, Nanna lived another 20 years after and didn't die with that, Mary's grave stone has been moved and mum can't find it. Unfortunately I cannot get there because I am in Aussie. I think she may be at Farnworth Cemetary or Ringley. Mum knew roughly where it was but they have knocked down buildings and now she has no idea and it is a lot to ask her because she is 81 years old now. I will find the truth though.

Thanks again for everybodies help

Donna,

Have you tried telling your mum you can quite easily find out how they died by ordering the death certs? That might be enough for her to tell you the truth.

Do you know where Mary Agnes Holden is buried? Perhaps you can get the year she died from the gravestone.

Hi Donna,

It does seem a common name doesn't it?

Have you considered this possibility from Lancs BMD? A bit later than you thought but age is 78.
