I have come to a dead end with this James Wilde b.1845 in Dukinfield, Cheshire married to Elizabeth Unknown b.1849c Leeds. They lived in Dukinfield. |

Hi, this might be a long shot as I haven't actually sat down and looked at the little bit of data I've got, but my grandfather was christened James Dukinfield Wilde in Australia and his father was James Wilde. Wilde migrated to Australia with his wife and it gets a bit shaky from then. Looks like he did something scurrilous because he changed his name to James Boyd. His son William Boyd then served in the AIF and fought with the Anzacs at Gallipoli and was wounded. He was shipped off to hospital in England and there is a letter from James Wilde where he has written to the authorities asking for whereabouts of his soldier son in which he says the boy's real name is William Wilde and that he is well connected in England but doesn't know it. |
