Hi I am very new to this and have come to a halt. Cannot find record of birth for my grandad Sydney, I know he was born in 1900 and he was black. He married a Ivy Travill and they lived in Northampton, they had a son Gerald who is my dad, have not seen him for 46 years when I was 5. Unfortunalely he died in 1993.
Would love to know where I originate from and whether I have any half brothers or sisters.
Can anyone help me.

Thank you
Denise

The best way to proceed is to purchase Sydney and Ivy's marriage cert...it will tell you the names of both fathers......if known.

When was your father born?

Can you say why there is doubt about Sydney's surname...........

Form one of Denise's other postings, I have found that her father was born in 1933.............

His surname was Maloney....so I am at a loss to understand where the name Greenough comes into it.

I asked Denise for clarification earlier in this thread, but she seems not to be returning to pick up replies.

Didn't know there was another thread. Just found who I think is Sydney in 1901 but guess I've wasted my time.

Had an email from Denise.

"Ivy was from Rushden, Northants "

So Reggie has the correct one.
