James Kelly born 24th October 1874, Hislop's Close, North Berwick, son of Robert Kelly ?,( We don’t know what Robert Kelly This is ) fisherman and his wife Mary Livingston. He was granted a professional license on the North Berwick West Links in October 1894. It was renewed in 1899 and again in 1903 when he lived at 5 Russell Square. In 1900-08, a group of North Berwick greenkeepers including Hugh Hamilton, Tom Anderson, Robert Dickson and James Kelly assisted Ben Sayers to layout the municipal course at Craigentinny, Edinburgh. James Kelly was appointed the first golf professional at Craigentinny. He was appointed professional at Penmaenmawr Golf Club, Gwynedd in 1912 and then moved to Bramhall Golf Club, Stockport, Manchester (1917- 1919)

I have never heard Juan ( Maybe Joan) Kelly wife before is Juan her maiden name?

1st wife – Margaret Russell - What happened to her ?
2nd wife Joanna ( Joan) Marr dies in child birth – Child Mary Jane Kelly ( Known as Jane ) definitely didn't die as she later married Alex Leitch

So your advice would be get James's Death Certificate ?

So 1st wife 1881 1st wife Joan died and daughter Jane bought up by his sister

2nd wife - 1891 & 1901 Margaret Russell had a daughter Margaret in 1900 living at 21 Victoria is there a 1911 census?

No heard of Margaret Daughter before ?

I have added the information I had on the two generations of my family at the beginning

Query One
From the very useful information supplied by alviegal, it seems James was only married twice and the order of the marriages. I also learned he had a daughter Margaret which I didn't know about. I can only deduce the daughter Margaret did not make it to adulthood as no one has heard of her.

Query two: Mary Jane Kelly bought up by her grandmother at Mary Collie nee Kelly. yet again alviegal's information shows me Mary Jane Kelly was no longer in her Fathers home by 1891. Mary Jane Kelly married Alexander Leitch in 1907 by 1915 Alexander Leitch took his own life so yet again I'm presuming all three female relatives are living at 6 Market place around 1915. Relatives have stated they knew Aunty Jane Leitch and Granny Collie but did not know how Aunty Kate Kelly fitted in.?

You really need to look at https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and invest in some certificates. It is very much cheaper than buying English/ Welsh ones.
1911 is pay per view but you can crudely manipulate to get this.

To clarify, Joan Marr (mistranscribed as Juan in the census) had 2 daughters, Jane b 1880 and Mary b 1882.
Joan died in 1882 so I'm assuming from your post that she died giving birth to Mary.
Getting death certificates will give you concrete proof.

I was told Mary Jane Kelly's Mum Joan Marr died in child birth 1882
when Mary Jane Kelly moved to her grandmother Mary Thomas, hey decided they could not have to Marys in 1 house so they called the child Jane

I had no idea there was another baby born 1880 Jane - what happened to this Baby?

William is James's brother, although his age fluctuates a bit from one census to another.

Jane Kelly is on the 1881 census so has to be the 1880 birth. Mary was born and died 1882 and her mother, Joan died the same year.
Jane must be the daughter who survived.
