i wonder if anyone could find Edward O'Melia on the 1911 census.

He was born 1904 in Liverpool and died in 1977.

He married Doris McLellan in 1937

When I found them on the 1939 register doris's record can be read but Edward's is blacked out.

Which website are you using for your searching?

Find his birth on the GRO site, then look for parents’ marriage….and try finding them in 1911

I found his death on Familysearch and his marriage on lancashirebmd.

Edward and Doris had 2 children Patricia 1937 - 2014 and John H Melia 1939 not sure of year of death

I cant find a birth for him in 1904 and thats the date of birth on his death on familysearch and ancestry - 13th December 1904

The info about his children is of no help regarding 1911

How can you say he was born in Liverpool if you haven’t found a record?

Get a copy of the marriage cert to find out if he knew his father’s details

He is NOT on 1939 register living with Doris - she is listed as no 1.

he was my brother in laws grandfather and he told me that he was born and bred in liverpool but he doesnt know very much more about him . his mother had an disagreement with her father so he didnt see much of his grandparents

i guess i will have to send off for their marriage cert to find out more

I would suggest that the marriage cert would be more useful, for father’s name and occupation, as there is an element of doubt about the info found being for the person whose death gives a birth date of 13th December

The baptism records it as 26th

I agree, it would be sensible to get the marriage cert, for the father's details. You want to be sure you're following the right trail.

I will get my brother in law to send off for a marriage certificate then we can go from there.
