Ellen, try this link:

https://translate.google.com/#view=home&op=translate&sl=fr&tl=en

When the window opens you should see two boxes below, the box on the left with the headings Detect Language and French (written in blue) and the box on the right with English (written in blue) and below Translation (written in Grey). If you type in the left hand box the words from the document you wish to translate (in French) they should appear in English in the right hand box as you type them.

Can the person who sent you the information not translate it for you?

I wouldn't have time to translate all 10 pages for you but if you are just hoping to find information that can help you in your family tree research, I could take a look for you or do some resarch depending on which Antoine Maurel you are looking for.

found this on the internet, is this part of the biography that you have?

Catherine, here it is translated using the link I provided which took me the time to copy and paste it. Lets hope it is of interest to Ellen!

Antoine Maurel was born June 18, 1763 in Vence, certainly in the family home located intra muros, which still exists, "way of the Porte Saint Paul" current street of the Town Hall, in the immediate vicinity of the Door of Signadour.

He was the ninth child of Jacques, housekeeper, baker, and Catherine Sue, originally from La Colle sur Loup and a relative of the writer Eugène Sue. The profession of housekeeping is that of the peasant who cultivates his own land. Those of Jacques were in the district of the bridge, and produced vines, olive-trees, mulberry-trees and other fruit-trees. The bakery bakery on the ground floor of the family home could have existed nowadays, if modernization had not had its effect.

Antoine learned the surgery probably with one of his uncle surgeons, but we do not know anything about him before he settled in 1792 in Mahé, main island of the archipelago of Seychelles.

It is found as subrécargue of an Arab ship, the Cabras, coming from Muscat, released in the Seychelles from April 6 to July 3, 1798. He took advantage of this long stop in the archipelago to marry a young girl of colonel, Marie Hélène Savy on June 27, 1798, a week before driving the Cabras to Port Louis, Isle of France, where he signed the declaration of arrival as captain of this vessel.

The enigmatic character, Antoine Maurel, seems to have gone through time without fanfare, but it is undeniable that he participated actively in the economic life of Seychelles and most probably, the time being remarkable, with the numerous maritime scaffoldings which punctuated the relations between the France and England. It is indeed disturbing to note that her first child was born on June 12, 1802, exactly four years after her marriage. This weariness of time may indicate the absence of Antoine de Seychelles between 1798 and 1801.

Marie Hélène Savy gave her four children: Marie François Antoine Maurel, Edouard Sauveur Célestin, Jacques Marie Gustave who died young and Marie Dorothée Emmée who will marry the eldest son of Jean François Hodoul, the corsair. His three children then went to Mauritius.

Marie Hélène Savy died on June 15, 1807 in Mahé Seychelles. Antoine remarried on June 10, 1813 with Henriette Thiebault, widow who also gave him four children so Françoise Henriette who married Jean François Hodoul, the youngest son of Jean François Hodoul, the Corsair.

The census of 1817 shows that Antoine owned 425 acres of land at Anse la Retraite in northeastern Mahe, including 30 acres of maize, 60 acres of cassava, 10 acres of diverse crops, 167 acres of cotton, 108 savannah acres and 50 arpents of "standing timber", and ... 170 slaves.

Antoine died on January 9, 1830. He is buried in the old Bel Air cemetery with Marie Hélène Savy, his first wife. His second wife survived him 21 years. She died of hydrophism on February 1, 1851 in Mahé, Seychelles.

Tiggit, that's quite a good translation.
A few errors and some words not even translated but it's really not bad for an online translating aide. Much better than ones you used to get. Nice one. :-)
