Thankyou for your help I have most of this information .I really wanted to know what happened to joyce and also what year james went to prison .For his wifes depts. Cannot find any trace of either of them but really thankyou for your help .

Have i found the right James Allsopp??

According to the 1939 image, the marriage took place 1/5/1946, but, as has already been stated, there isn't any trace on England/Wales records

The death posted above is obviously the right woman - a copy of the cert would give you the informant's details, which could prove helpful

I believe that the date given is the date when the record was updated so all we know is that the marriage is supposed to have taken place 'before' that date.

Having said that, I've just checked my stepmother's record and it gives the exact date of her marriage to my father. Perhaps it's just coincidence
