From other thread for ref the child Francis born 1906 died, but there was a thought that as the Godfather on his baptism was also Francis

"The godparents for Francis were Francis & Maria McGuire - is Francis a brother of Mary Catherine?"

Pam

Pam Report 27 Nov 2017 21:39

Hi ArgylGran

There has been numerous searches done for him on here all to no avail

The story goes my father had a younger brother named Frank who my mum had met on numerous occasions as had my older brother and my sister had also met him

There is a Francis Logan with mother's maiden name Maguire or McGuire born in Blackburn 1920 but the parents have different forenames to my grandparents.

Most or all of my father's siblings died in infancy or at a young age. His parents were married in 1901 and he was born 1910
Two born after him were Mary Frances and Michael who both died young.

So you see this Frank has been an elusive character.

Mary Christina was born earlier: She was the wife of Thomas Logan (they married 1901)

This is her burial:
Name: Mary Christina Logan
Age: 93
Birth Date: abt 1874<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Burial Date: 26 May 1967
Burial Place: Ford Cemetery, Lancashire, England
----------------------------

The 1939 record I posted earlier was not for Mary Christina- This is Mary Christina in 1939, at the same address that she and Thomas were living in 1911:-

1939
Logan Household (3 People) 37 Keble Street , Liverpool C.B., Lancashire, England
Thomas Logan 21 Dec 1871 Male Storekeeper (Confecty) Retired Married
Mary Logan 24 Dec 1873 Female Unpaid Domestic Duties Married
William Logan 12 Apr 1906 Male Motor Car Mechanic Married
------------------------------

Do you have Mary Catherine Maguire's birth certificate? Was her birth 7th November?

Thank you for looking..it really is a mix up but I know for sure my family never lived in Bolton and granddad John enlisted in Liverpool. I have his war record.

I think my cousins husband must have listed these people as a possibility when he first started researching, it just seems odd I've never seen it before if that is the case!

Families and mysteries...there's nothing like them is there lol

Hi Nyx

Yes you have looked for them before on the 1939. I was trying to ascertain who the James born 1915 on the Mannion family tree on ancestry and everything has lead on from there.
I'm so sorry you ended up looking again but it reminded to send for my grandfathers birth certificate which I had forgotten to do.
Thanks for your help and reminder x

Hi AustinD

I'm pretty sure the Mary you have found is another Mary whose middle name is Christina.
Thank you so much for taking the time to help
Kind regards

I wondered why it was showing that I'd searched names before

https://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/ancestors/thread/1332606?page=0

from that thread it gave John's baptism with birth 16/april 1878, and I must have looked at this one as it shows that I have...I thought it was a possible as only the month was out?

The tree shows James Logan b 18 Dec 1915 naming his parents as John Logan 1878-1945 and Mary Catherine Maguire 1879 - ?

One source is the WW1 record of

John Logan a Tailor aged 37 who enlisted in 1915 at Farnworth to the Cheshire Regiment.

His marriage to Catherine Critchlow a spinster is noted 6.8.1902 at the Congregational Church Chapel en le Frith. His present address reads 165 Ellesmere Road, Farnworth near Bolton.

Children at time of enlistment are
Catherine 31.8.04, Harry 23.8.08, Evelyn Anne 5.1.10 and twins James and John Brooks Logan 18.12.15 all b Farnsworth

Sadly there is a death certificate 6.12.1917 of a 5 month old Joseph Logan included with the Army documents son of John a Tailor and Catherine.

So someone's a bit mixed up.

Name: Mother's Maiden Surname:
LOGAN, JOHN BROOKES CRITCHLOW
GRO Reference: 1916 M Quarter in BOLTON Volume 08C Page 545

Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
Marriages Sep 1902 (>99%)

That is the family on the Mannion tree by the look of it

I can't find my grandparents john logan and Mary Catherine logan on the 1911 or 1939.

I think my dad had signed up for the war when the 1939 was taken

Pam

Pam Report 26 Nov 2017 22:22
