In the 1909 incoming record for the Daniels family, posted by AustinQ, it says they held tickets for onward travel to St Agnes, which, from a quick Google search, seems to be in Cornwall - so another reason why maybe not them.

You can use the 'Add your reply' box at the bottom of the page to respond.

It's interesting looking at the image ............... all women, mainly late teens to 50's, most single but some widows and a few married, from all over England and other parts of the world ...... I saw someone from Marseille, France, another from Manilla in the Phillipines who spoke Spanish. All shown as Workers ......... Seamstresses, Laundresses, Domestic Workers etc

NOT the typical Work House listing!

It's NOT the Workhouse ........................

It's the Magdalen Asylum, Convent of the Good Shepherd, Litchfield Hall, Blackley, Manchester

and it seems to be associated with Booth Hall Infirmary, Charlestown Road, Blackley, Manchester.

Looking at the jobs listed for the women, I would guess that the Magdalen Asylum inmates provided domestic services such as laundry and such to the Infirmary

Unfortunately, Magdalen Asylums aka Magdalen Laundries have a very bad reputation for their treatment of the women who found themselves there.
