Ohh my, I don't know where to start with all this info!

Thank you all so much for all your time and efforts. so appreciated.

The missing sibling is definitely on the side of either Claud/Sarah as I have traced a descendant of Sarah & Alfred Talmage's only son-Alfred(jnr) and he has confirmed what I thought, that Frank & Ivy had another sister but he too only heard her referred to as "Babe"
I will post up if the Syliva born to Mother-Ball in Staffordshire is my missing lady once I receive the cert.
If not then I have to assume she may have been either Claud's or maybe a relatives child that possibly was taken into the family??

Eugenie,
in the meantime could you just say who were the parents of Sarah Ball please, just so I can have a look at their family to see if there is a child with them that may be the missing Babe.

I have now received the birth cert for the Sylvia Wallace that I thought could have been my dad's missing sister, but this appears to not be the case.
This lady was born to parents William Wallace and Agnes Wallace (formerly Ball).

So this completely throws my idea that my grandmother Sarah Wallace (formerly Ball) returned to Staffordshire to possibly hide a birth.

I have spoken to a descendant of the only child born to Sarah & her second husband Alfred Talmage and he has confirmed that he recalls My father having a younger sister but again only knew the nickname "Babe".

So the missing daughter can't have been Sarah's child or the the descendant would have have been a relative of his.

I have thought that maybe as someone suggested it may have been a child of one of Claude's siblings that was bought up by her Uncle & Aunt but Claude had three siblings that I know of, Effie, Frank & Lillian but none of them died young so this is unlikely.

I am now totally stumped as I have from two totally independent sources that there was a younger sister.....any ideas on where to try?
I have the addresses the family lived at, is there anywhere to see household records?

Any suggestions or assistance would be much appreciated.
