Find Ancestors

Looking for George Wilkinson born in Barton Lincolnshire in 1817 and his daughter Hannah Wilkinson born 1863 in Preston Lancashire. No idea what happened to her mother and have no name for her. 1871 census both living together living in Bridlington Yorkshire....then trail runs cold. I know she changed her name at some point to Annie and married in 1886 in Yorkshire.

Have you found George in earlier censuses? I can't see him with the YOB and POB stated in 1871.
I've even wondered about Barton, Lancs (near Preston) being his correct birthplace - but no joy.

If so, here's a wild guess at Jane's death:

Glanford Brigg district includes Barton upon Humber.

but that's probably wrong - she's more likely to have died in Preston or Bridlington - though as George was a hawker, they may have moved around a lot, so she could have died anywhere.

Have you got Hannah's marriage cert? Just checking if it might hold any clues, such as names of witnesses. A long shot, but you never know.

The Sandersons seem to disappear after 1871, too.

There was a George Wilkinson baptised St Mary Barton upon Humber Lincoln 1821 by mark and Mary Wilkinson.

Can't find any of them after that.

I was wondering if he married his housekeeper Mary but found no marriage. I do have marriage certificate but no real clues. I have a date of marriage Dec 1886 Sculcoates York. She was living at 10 Brunswick Terrace Brunswick Avenue which I am presuming was in York. Her name at this stage was Annie Wilkinson. married to James B Marshall.
