AustinQ Report 15 Apr 2016 06:07

William was born in Portsmouth where his parents married- his mother, Lucy, had moved to Crewe by the time of the 1939 register- the place where William married.-

From this, and his exact age given on the memorial notice it seems the Portsmouth birth is extremely likely.

In the absence of any further detail, I suggest that these families would be worth following (for the parents - William + Lucy) ?

????? - It is 'possible' that they had a further child just after the census ?

Possible for parents' marriage:

Marriages Sep 1934 (>99%)

McHenry William Snape Portsmouth 2b 1541
Snape Lucy McHenry Portsmouth 2b 1541

I don't have access to the 1939 register, but it appears that Lucy is living in Crewe, which fits. Possibly the closed record is William born 1935

It took me a while to figure out that Crewe was not the wife's surname ...

there were births to that marriage, and all these people are surely living

if you are related to them, can you not ask them whatever it is you want to know?

their marriages are easily found but unfortunately both the children only seem to be on the electoral roll up to a decade ago, unless they are now not with spouses

yes

but you can get 20 free credits

just follow this link and sign up

http://goo.gl/Qg5Gd9

you will need to send off for the cert as you can't see it on line because of scotland 100 year rule.

1066ronnie

1066ronnie Report 13 Apr 2016 22:34

Hi SAFC have registered with scotlandspeople, see I have to buy credits!!!! Thats not an option at the moment :-0 :-0

greyghost

greyghost Report 13 Apr 2016 22:34

You buy credits for Scotland's People - £7 for 30. 1 credit gets up to 25 results and a further 5 allows you to look at and download the certificate if over 100 years ago for births, 75 for marriages and 50 for deaths. More recent and the GROS reference number given allows you to order the certificate - £12 a go I think.

You can manipulate the site to a certain extent i.e. you could narrow down the birth years for the 2 results that safc has posted and also the county and the RD that they were born in.

There are quite a few McHenrys showing in Ireland too

Thanks SAFC do I need to subscribe to scotlandspeople?
