Looking for a John L. Brown who was born about 1829 in England, and emigrated to Massachusetts/New Hampshire USA before 1854.
He married a Sarah P Dane of Franklin, Massachusetts about 1854, and they started their family in 1955, in New Hampshire. Sorry, I know that this is a long-shot as looking for the surname Brown, is like Smith or Jones, there are quite a few of them.

There's a tree on Ancestry which says his middle initial was C, and he was born in USA.

On the Marriage that Maddie has found for Etta M Brown it gives her father as John C Brown birthplace Columbia, New Hampshire

On the Marriage that Maddie has found Hattie E Brown it gives her father as John E Brown but no birthplace for him, mother is Sarah P Dane born Brockton, Massachusetts

It does state that John C was born in England and that both father and mother were of foreign parentage

This appears to be the same family in the 1860 census but this time John was born in New Hampshire

The reference to being born in England was on the 1865 US Census, but they are not always correct as you know, so thank you all for correcting that for me.

On Sarah P's death registration it states that on date of death 26 Dec 1898 she was 69yrs 1mth and 20days which I make 6 Nov 1829 and was born Andover, Massachuetts; father John Dane. Looking at the births for Andover on 6 Nov 1829 there is a birth to John and Sally Dane and the child is called Sally Pillsbury Dane.

John C Brown, aka John E. Brown who married Sarah P Dane.

I appreciate all the information you have sent me. If anyone has John C Brown (aka John E.Brown)'s parents, that would be a great help. Connie looked up the tree on ancestry but that tree does not have his parents. Rootsweb has been down for a few weeks now, so I cannot look for anything there.

John C. brown 1829 Update:
I have just found the marriage certificate for John C.'s son Edward Austin Brown 2nd marriage which was to Annie Freeman Issley. They were married 22 Feb 1922 in Clementsport, Nova Scotia.
On that certificate, it states that Edward's father, John C. Brown, was born in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. So it appears that references to England are not correct and Massachusetts are more correct. Thank you, Peter
