Find Ancestors

On behalf of someone I am trying to find what became of Kathleen Burton and her daughter Rosemary. This is what I have:

There was a Kathleen Grace Burton birth registration in 1903 but I have discounted this as I believe I have found her in 1939 as a single woman.

As I cannot find Kathleen in the 1939 Register I have tried looking for re-marriages for her and then deaths using her birth registration but nothing tallies.

I have found a possible marriage for daughter Rosemary in 1952 to Jack C Ellis in Buckrose Yorkshire.

There is a death for a Rosemary Ellis in 1983 in Bridlington Yorkshire whose birthday is given as 28th April 1930, so is this the correct lady and her birth was registered late?

I've just checked the death on FMP and birth is given as 11th June 1902 and the birth registration of the Kathleen I'm looking for was Jun q 1902.

Kathleen I think you've cracked it.

I was going to ask why would it show her as being single but then I noticed Nellie Burton born 1876, Although the year of birth is 3 years out from the 1911 census, that would be her mum.

I think it would show her as being single because her first husband had died by then and perhaps she thought of herself as single rather than a widow, and perhaps Nellie Burton had shaved a few years off her age in the 1911 census because she was older than her husband??????

I thought that too but having checked the deaths it looks like her husband died in 1962.

No, I meant Francis (her first husband) who died in 1931. Her second marriage to Mr. Nichols wasn't until 1947 - after the 1939 register was taken. Her name would have been updated after her second marriage as the register was regularly updated until 1991.
