malyon Report 27 Jan 2016 18:55

that is them i have always wondered about richard 1853 and john 1851 if maria is their mother because she was still married to thomas hopkins and her daughter annie hopkins was born in 1855 so maria was with her husband then so richard and john must have had another mother maria and john malyon were married in 1864

malyon

malyon Report 27 Jan 2016 19:33

Malyon - when did Maria's husband die?

She and John Malyon were living together as man and wife before they married (marriage 26 Nov 1861, census was 7 Apr 1861).

If John acknowledged paternity of the boys then they could be registered in his name. Annie may also be his child but he wasn't able to participate in the registration, hence Annie registered in Maria's then married name. Even if a widow's husband had been dead for some years he would often still be named on a child's birth - the cause of much confusion.

ADDED:

Just noticed Annie is recorded as Malyon on the 1861 census so he appears to acknowledge her as his daughter.

I didn't realise there was another thread already posted.

I have deleted my post.

Malyon, it would have been helpful if you'd just added to that previous thread so we could have been familiarised with the background.

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 27 Jan 2016 20:21

Malyon, you already had everything that I posted. You made it sound as if you didn't. I am not well pleased!

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 27 Jan 2016 20:38

What a stinking attitude - "too bad your (and it should be you're, by the way) not pleased"

You try to help on these boards often and you should know how they work by now.

so .................

you know how you felt

why be equally as rude to people who are only trying to help you?

You have been a member and a helper long enough to know how the Boards work, what information should be given so that research is not duplicated, yet you didn't give that information.

Did you not expect people to find out that you had the information on a previous post?
