Thank you all, greyghost, margee, malyon and Andrew once again - yes, Margee that is where I found the name Petts and I tried as many variations of that as I could but did not find them.

The Mary Morris mentioned above is not the one Henry married after Rosetta died as Mary Bugby married James Coles after her husband Charles died. I will see if I can find which one he married.

Many thanks once again.

Looking at this as a possibility for Mary's previous marriage

?? Birth of the 9 year old "Earas" Morris from the 1861 census and 18 year old Enos from the 1871. Not finding a baptism for him - no doubt he was Mary's son but obviously not Jerome's . He would be registered with the surname of his mother's husband even if he was dead.

Jerome Morris and Rosetta Cross Morris were brother and sister, parents John Morris and Ann (Gray). So Rosetta's widower married Jerome's widow? Jerome married Mary Bayley.

John Morris was a soldier in the 1st Foot with the Duke of Wellington for almost 19 years and was a Pensioner on his discharge in 1816. On the discharge paper is written"This is an extremely well conducted man". His parents are William Morris and Elizabeth Cross and his first born was named William Wellington Morris!

I find this family very interesting but am unable to work out how we are related or connected or if we are at all.

My own line is from William Morris m. Elizabeth Castledine and all are from Stanwick, Northamptonshire.

Thank you all for your kind help.
