In the 1911 census my granfatherRichard Fisher aged 36 (born1 875?) Westmorland married and is a pit sinker. Cannot find a marriage to my Grandmother Sarah Johnson yet she had at 4 children to him to my knowledge.Found a Richard Fisher in other census from Ulverston which is where my mother was told he came from, both son and father in 1901 iron ore miners.
Found a marriage in 1897 for Richard Fisher to Agnes Tyson in Blackburn father Robert Fisher which ties in with census returns.
Notice he is often refered to as Richard Jackson Fisher.
1901 census shows Richard b1877
Robert b1850 father both iron ore miners
Agnes j Fisher b1878 SIster in law
Elizabeth A Fisher B1897.Niece
Is this Richards wife and not the sister in Law?
Found an Agnes Fisher died 1912 Kendal and Elizabeth Fisher died 1905 in preston
Do not know if this is the correct family as in 1911 shows married but no children shown.
I think he was employed by Pease and sons and he died at my my grandmothers in 1922.He never mentioned any of his family.
How do I confirm if this is the right man?

Maureen

Maureen Report 19 Jan 2016 17:20

Hi MaddieI think that this was Richard Fishers father if I have the right Richard Fisher Still do not know who agnes fisher in 1911 census is married to .There is a Richard fisher married to Agnes Tyson in 1897 from Blackburn .which would possibly tie in but she is shown as a sister in law and not daughter in law in 1901
My Richard Fisher moved to Thorne Doncaster for work as shown in 1911 where he met my grandmother.

Maureen

Maureen Report 19 Jan 2016 17:34

In the same family have just found a Richard Fisher born 1844 ulverstone and he was a miner also shown in 1861 census.Wonder if he married and had a son Richard ? getting confused now in case I have been following the wrong Richard, but the right family!

I think the relationships in 1901 has not been correctly recorded, Robert is twice ages's age so unlikely to be in laws and the above marriage fits with Robert and agnes, just a thought
