Bumping this up as I had this message from Tilly the other day.

MY grandmother was Leah Alice Yates youngest daughter of Ellen Forbes Oakes and Enoch Yates who married in 1842 at Astbury there were 13 children . Aaron 1844,Sarah Ann 1846,Harriet 1848 Forbes.1851.Martha and Mary 1853 James 1856 Enoch 1858,David 1860, Ellen 1863 Elijah 1865 Caleb 1868 and lastly my grandmother Leah Alice 1871
Ellen Forbes Yates nee Oakes lived at Congleton Edge until she died in1912 It is her family I am trying to trace

Tilley can you go back a little further for have noted Malyon re christening of Ellen. Forbes name is within my tree but don't think any connection although they did originate from Scotland. Usually a surname was given as second name to first son born but was wondering if Ellen was given this from her mothers side. try checking out Ann (mother) to see if she was a Forbes. good luck.

I have looked on Family Search for a marriage of a Robert to a Catherine as thats the only place you are likely to find anything.

Do you know who any of their children married? Without more info we can't do a lot for you.
