Find Ancestors

Have been trying for a few days now and can find absolutely nothing. The name on the birth certificate is Armande Beller father of Margaret Irene Beller born April 1915 mother was Lilian Ada Beller- they were not married - records state mmn Madge but this is wrong it should have been Barker. The certificate states he was a Tailors Traveller and the address for both on the certificate was 33 Cavendish Road, Hornsey, Middlesex. This was the address of the parents of Lilian Ada Barker - George Henry Barker and Harriett Jane Barker (whose 2nd marriage was a Madge) and that was her name at the time of 1915 - found George Henry Barker at 33 Cavendish Road in1914. But no records for the war years.

Family say Armande was Italian - gossip says he was already married with children.

Margaret Irene would love to know (yes she is still alive and celebrated her 100th birthday last year) anything about her father other than what is on the birth certificate. She was under the impression that her mother met him whilst he was a Head Waiter where she was working.

This is a really difficult one so if anyone wants a challenge this is for you. I have failed miserably.

That is absolutely amazing - seems to have change his first and second names a bit but must he him with the occupation - maybe he changed his job to a Tailors traveller. Can you find any marriage and children or when he came into the country- anything else. She will be so pleased with just this info.

What about this marriage? She's a widow. This is just the banns, can't see the marriage.

He keeps changing his name doesnt he. That could be the marriage. You are a true star Andrew - family thought he was married with kids when Margaret was born a year earlier - is it possible to find an address for him after the marriage and maybe a death- know it is difficult with the name changing all the time.

yes Margee that is definitely Lilian Ada Barker's parents- Lilian Ada married a Dorrell in 1916. We know that side of the family - it was the Italilan connection we didnt know about. Found Lilian Ada Barker on the 1911 census

wonderful you found a death too. All that is missing - I hate to ask anymore of you - as you have been so good but were there any children to the Caldana marriage and any address. You put me to shame I couldnt find anything but was looking at the exact name on Margaret's birrth certificate. I need to think out of the box more.

There are several articles in the newspaper dated 1930 re a restaurant called Romanos run by Mr Armand Belli.

At this delightful Strand restaurant so ably managed by Armand Belli, cabaret is still a strong feature, and weekly some of the best turns in this class of business are introduced....
