	On the marriage record, his father is John Oddy...Shopkeeper.

Jonathan Oddy in the West Yorkshire, England, Marriages and Banns, 1813-1935 Name:Jonathan Oddy (Bachelor) Plummer...Bradford Birth Year:abt 1840 Age: 21 Marriage or Bann Date: 25 Mar 1861 Parish: Bradford, St Peter (Bradford Cathedral), Yorkshire, England Spouse: Janet Ingram (Spinster) Bradford Father: John Oddy (Shopkeeper) Spouse Father:John Ingram (Shoemaker) Witnesses: Edward Spencer ?? and William Holmes. I can't make out John's occupation on the 1841 census. Possibly......Woolcomber?

	Oh hang on.... That 1841 census might not be the right Jonathan Oddy. There is a Jonathan Addy on the 1851 census...with father John Addy a Woolcomer.

Member Since: March 2003 Posts: 2 377 Send Message	Thank you for all that. Recently I have not been very successful trying to trace some of the various ancestors and their marriages in IGI c.1800. Are there any other potential sources for this info> Andy quite often comes up with nuggets and I sometimes check out the sources he quotes but now can't remember which branch of the family or their whereabouts that we were dealing with.

	I am confused now.. On the 1851 census, there is an Edward Spencer (Remembering there is a witness Edward Spencer on the Jonathan's marriage record) husband of Sarah Ann Spencer. And.... Marriages Jun 1850 (>99%) Spencer Edward Bradford Y 23 210 Oddy Sarah Ann Bradford Y. 23 210 Father John Oddy... Occ Comber on her marriage record.

	Ah....... John has changed his occupation by 1861.....he is a Grocer! Appears now as Oddy Rebeca Oddy in the 1861 England Census Name: Rebeca Oddy Age: 54 Estimated birth year: 1807 Relation: Wife Spouse's Name: John Oddy Gender: Female Where born: Bradford, Yorkshire, England Civil Parish: Bradford Household Members: John Oddy 59 (Grocer) Rebeca Oddy 54 Phew!! :-)
