Hi Linda

Welcome to the boards.
Can you be more specific with names and dates please.

Remember if you are looking for living relatives, don't post their names on this thread, use the Living Relatives board.

Thank you for your reply. Do you know if they had any children

Is there any connection to this query from 2007?

http://boards.ancestry.co.uk/thread.aspx?mv=flat&m=185&p=surnames.hawkes

Can you give us a bit more info on what in particular you are looking for Linda

Rambling

Rambling Report 30 Oct 2015 20:54

There are two likely children to that marriage Olive 1921, John 1922, does seem to be connected to that Ancestry query?

Rambling

Rambling Report 30 Oct 2015 21:09

Olive P married Hawkes, had 3 children in Windsor, possibly one in Croydon .

edit I see from a google search that it is a living relative you are hoping to find, so do look at the advice given at the top of living relatives page also. :-)

Linda Report 30 Oct 2015 22:30

We want to find out if George Henry Pomfret had any children with Olive Palastanga around 1953 to 1957 as we may be related
Thanks

thanks to Rose for posting this link in the thread on Living Relatives

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/living_relatives/thread/1355841

Linda, if you could just start out by stating clearly what you know (names, dates, places) and what you want to know, it would save everyone considerable time and effort

and please go back to that other thread to reply as well

the thing is that the odds of anyone who actually knows or knew the familes seeing your post are almost zero (so the kind of house they lived in doesn't help much :-) ), but helpful strangers may be able to find what you want, if you supply the info you have

'lostmeboardname's advice is not quite correct ... the thing to do is not post a question on one board and then ask about the same family on another ...

Rambling

Rambling Report 30 Oct 2015 22:43

adding to say that Pomfret/Palastanga birth is also registered in the surname Hawkes...which is clearly connected.

Rambling

Rambling Report 30 Oct 2015 22:47

So basically I think this a two pronged search for the Hawkes/Palastanga child born in Croydon (adopted? as posted on Missing you.net) and for the daughter born to Pomfret / Palastanga in 1953. ? is that right Linda?

Rambling

Rambling Report 30 Oct 2015 22:50

There is a marriage for the daughter born 1953, in Windsor 1972, again on freebmd.

sorry edited the name, but it can be easily found using one of the surnames registered at birth.

Thanks everyone yes I did start to research this originally on ancestry
My husband has just found out that he has a brother born 1948 in Birdhurst lodge Croydon and adopted his mother was a Mrs Hawkes nee Olive Palastanga
He has a sibling b1953-2005 who married in 1972 under the name of Y. Pomfret this entry into the bmd has been double registered .and another sibling b. 1946 named w. Hawkes . we are hoping the adopted Hawkes has kept his surname. I have registered on the GRO office for birth realitives to register interest if they have also contacted them.

Linda, perhaps he will happen along via a google search of his own or his mother''s maiden name one day, certainly Palastanga is a good name for that, and it seems you have done the right thing in registering an interest. It's very unlikely he will still have the Hawkes surname I think.

Make sure you keep your email address updated with GR and other sites if you change it at any time, so that he can still make contact if he finds the threads.

Linda you might be interested to look at the 1939 Register, on FMP from today, won't help with the adoption search though.
