AustinQ

AustinQ Report 27 Sep 2015 09:37

I haven't checked this out yet- but possible?

Death:
Name: Edith Walker Sirrel
Birth Date: 3 Nov 1926
Date of Registration: Dec 1969
Age at Death: 43
Registration district: Durham Western
Inferred County: Durham
Volume: 1a
Page: 1807
---------------------------------

Possibly Jane Walker's daughter before her marriage to William C Sirrell?
There is this birth in the same area of her later child (note mm is Sedgefield, but I don't see a Sedgefield/ Walker marriage

Births Dec 1926 (>99%)
Walker Edith Sedgefield Sedgefield 10a 295

Births Dec 1930 (>99%)
Sirrell Elizabeth Walker Sedgefield 10a 296
-----------------------------------------------

EDIT: Ok, looks like you've already researched this one? http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/ancestors/thread/1263728?page=0

But if Olive died, as suggested earlier, in 1940, then Maurice would have been free to marry.

Perhaps it was Edith that was married? Sirrell/ Sevill may have been her maiden or married name. She may not have wanted her married name on Alan's birth certificate?

EDIT- Or did Maurice also marry Amy Kendrew? So he was possibly still married to Amy?

Quoy

Quoy Report 26 Sep 2015 18:25

good old mistransciptions

Maurice Dolphin & Edith Sevill Dolphin, birth record from Durham online

will investigate Maurice being wed to Olive Eales as I did think that he had his boys late in life

Mary Report 21 Sep 2015 15:09

Amy Kendrew O/N/D 1906 V9d P651 Brompton Northallerton married 1945 to Maurice Dolphin
Amy Dolphin born 22/10/1906 died Cleveland 1975 V3 P 2037.

Maybe they separated and therefore couldn't marry Miss /Mrs
Sirrell.

Was Maurice also married to Olive Eales in 1930 they had 2 girls and a boy.I think this is Olive Dolphin 1907-1940,there are trees on here with them in.

I think this could be Edith Ann Dolphin 1893-1974 marrying 1932 to Frederick Stapleton they had a daughter Edna, could she have brought the brothers up.
She looks to have married 1953.
Someone has Edith Ann Dolphin 1893/4 and Adam Dolphin 1842 , and the Stapleton family.

Completely irrelevant to this search, I'm sure, but I came across it, and it struck me as funny, so I'll mention that in 1952 in Birmingham, a Haddock married a Dolphin.

PricklyHolly

PricklyHolly Report 21 Sep 2015 13:51

Good thinking Margee.......I didn't take Edith's age into consideration!

malyon

malyon Report 21 Sep 2015 13:51

could the second child 1953 been edith dolphin's sister of maurice and she was not married when he was born but she would have been too old
cant see the brothers would have a differnt birth name if they had the same mother also maurice might not have married a sirrell but she was the mother of his child

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 21 Sep 2015 13:48

Can't be Maurice's sister who I posted on the 1911 census then. She would be 60 in 1953.

Quoy

Quoy Report 21 Sep 2015 13:47

Surely, the best way to start is to buy the birth certificates to confirm parents names

PricklyHolly

PricklyHolly Report 21 Sep 2015 13:43

I'm not seeing a marriage or death for Edith.

Edith Ann C Dolphin in the England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index, 1837-1915
Name:Edith Ann C Dolphin
Registration Year:1893
Registration Quarter:Oct-Nov-Dec
Registration district:Auckland
Inferred County:Durham
Volume:10a
Page:169

It's my guess that the child born 1953 is Edith's illegitimate son.
