Hi thank you for all your help have just received birth certificate for James Gordine (gordion) Mother Mary Ann Courtney, father Arthur Samuel Gordine address 20 Devonshire street. Will order Marriage of Arthur & Mary very soon.
If possible would someone please find Mary Ann Courtney with her father ( William ) in a senses to check there birth place to order birth certificate of Mary Ann Courtney.

Just to confuse things, there are other entries for a George Gordine at the same school- but these have a different date of birth and father is listed as Robert.

I don't see anything further for your George (although he could be hidden with a different spelling of his surname). I did wonder if he had died as a young child?

When James marries Ellen he gives his address as 62 Cornwall Street. This is 62 Cornwall Street in 1901- seems his Mum may have remarried- the girls listed on the 1901 give their father as ARTHUR Samuel Gordine (Deceased) on their marriages.

Look at the witnesses on his marriage too- Mary A Barry and John Barry :D

he doesn't seem very sure about his age..................born anywhere from 1878 to 1883

I have been given information as to Ambrose link but am looking for proof I have everything in documents as far back as James wedding to Ellen hood marrying James, Father Samuel is deceased on wedding certificate also believe James lied about his age due to his army records.
At the moment I need to find James Gordine birth record to find mother's name, I have sent for one and hoping it's right one, then to find there marriage,
Also haven't found him in census with father.
Maybe the record I found on free ancestry days, James Gordine at school born 19/10/1880 could be him but no father listed there is a George Gordine right next to him.
I have the death of Ellen and James Gordine.
