good afternoon

i have a george mummery married to may elizabeth eyre. george was born in 1789 in eastry kent. i have found other mummerys on ancestry e g

john mummery b1650 dover kent , stephen born 1621 in dover kent, i believe stephen is johns father? richard born 1593 in the same place i think richard is stephens father?

so any help with the right family connection would be helpful

A tree on Ancestry says that George's parents were Stephen Mummery (1758-1841) and Mary White (1760-).

It says Stephen's parents were Stephen Mummery (1734-1797) and Finch Dowle (1731-).

The only way to prove connections is to research, and get documentary evidence

Guessing about who fathered whom is likely to be fraught with problems, as is picking up on names just because they were born in the same County

Work back systematically from the person you are 100% sure of..............

There's 130-odd years between the one you, presumably, have as your relation, and the next one backwards in time.

You need to fill the gap.............................with facts

You haven't given either a year, or a location, for the marriage

i have gone back as far as stephen mummery b 1758 married to mary white
and his parents stephen and finch dowle (american)

I think there must have been 2 Finch Dowles. According to the Ancestry trees she was born 1731 to John Dowle & Ann Bond.

Are you saying now that Finch Dowle was married in USA? But isn't that her marriage that Jacqueline posted, 13 Dec. 1755, Challock, Kent?
