All I can say is that it may have been misunderstood about the name of John William. I know sometimes they put the second name down first as I have had this in my own tree. When some people were baptised they did'nt put their second names down too.

It all looks to me as though it fits.

There are so many deaths for a William about the same time too so it would mean buying an awful lot of death certs to get the right one.

I had a look for a probate but could'nt really find one. As he was a painter and glazier he had a good job and I thought there may have been a little money left to one of the children.

Interestingly, if you look back to the image of that 1841 census for Wm and Elizabeth you will see that there are more Grahams living next door (further up the page), including Edward, Isabella and family.

Edward is also a painter, could he be another one using a middle name (Wm's parents perhaps?)

2 households above them are a family called Hewson (could this be Hewison and related to Elizabeth?) - They are Butchers by trade.

EDIT - The family is HEWISON on 1851 !

It may have been triscribed wrongly I suppose.

How about this?

They had naming patterns back in those days and William and Elizabeth seemed to have their parents names in their children.
