Didn't think of trying that site. I just signed up to the Irish find my past site.
But have to say it's not that great, well not for me anyway.

I put in all the information and i get nothing back.
Will look in to the site you gave me, thanks so much.

Las95 - sounds like you are in Ireland.

Have you tried local archives, this site is not bad for finding records: rootsireland.ie

Thank you Gins, I will need to sign back up to Ancestry, this other site i'm on isn't really that good, i don't seem to get any results.

Yes didn't think that he may of named them after his parents.

If i got the birth cert of james with the information you gave me do you think that is
enough to connect it with the john in monasterboice, sorry for all the questions,
as i am unsure what to do next.

Thank you everyone for your help.

Las95 Report 15 Feb 2015 11:27

Yep that is the one i found for John Branigan, but now i see that it has him dowm as a farmer and on James marriage cert is say labourer.
on 1901 it has farmer and 1911 it has farmer
but the marriage of james in 1906 it has labouer.

It is quite common to 'upgrade' your occupation. So the father can easily call himself a farmer but his son could well know that his father is only a farm labourer.

I just looked at the 1901 and the 1911 census and they both say farmer but on James marriage cert it says his father was a labourer.
Now i am at a total loss.

My Dad thinks he remember somethink about the monasterboice, but how much of this would be true i don't no.
