Cherilyn, a little problem with posting that record ... it gives exact birthdates of people now living and that info is not supposed to be posted here ... maybe edit to remove the day/month parts


5 Ronald Walkers were born Q3 1919 with no middle initial, none near Essex

This is an arrival in Oz from NAA RecordSeach, not sure if any help?

WALKER Ronald born 7 August 1919; Sarah (nee Barnfather) born 21 March 1923; Joyce Ann born ***; Jonathan Edward born ***; Gillian Ethel born ***; travelled per AUSTRALIS departing Southampton on 21 November 1966 under the Assisted Passage Migration Scheme

Ronald & Susan married in Liverpool, Lancs in 1948 so probably wrong area

this would be consistent with a 1918 birth (but not Nov 1918 as in the passenger list above)

(or could be a rounded age based on inexact knowledge)

this is his obituary

which names family members (so I will not copy it here), however it does not name parents

ah, it gives a birthdate in May 1918

... goes to show the problem with a name so common ... but there is no Ronald E Walker birth in 1918 in England/Wales so likely not this man


as GlitterBaby said the only Essex birth was in Orsett 1920 (in fact the only Ronald E birth 1918-22 other than one in 1922 in Norwich, who likely married there)

I'm guessing............and may well be wrong.....that the relative is one about whom Ronald may not have been aware.

Have you tried looking for Australian BMD info?

Or Electoral Rolls?

Poss Year of birth from a relative. Not much to go on. Was trying to find out from his death or marriage and then could work from that.

Parents unknown - but think birth was Essex 1920. Not got any family info to get back to 1911 census, which would help.
