There seem to be two William - Sarah Ball couples in Birmingham and the one with father Thomas is indeed my man.

Wit to the marriage were: George & Emma Matilda Pardo

Don't know if you have this 1911 ceensus. It says they had 7 children 4 living and three had died. William is a Baker and shop keeper employer and Sarah Ann assist in the buiness as does Elsie their daughter. They have two numbers on their address so it seems like it is a double bakers shop.

I do have the info on Thomas sr. who is my direct ancestor.
I think you made a mistake copying the info - Thomas and Margaret are married 54 years; 16 children, 8 living.
The only census that proved troublesome was the 1861 where wife Margaret is head of household - Thomas was spending a 'holiday' in Winson Green Prison!

Thomas jr.'s wife died in 1907 which explains why he and Sidney were with his parents.

Yes thank you, I have Thomas's parents and have got back a very long way with his mother's side (the 1600's), though I am stuck on his grandparents - William Ball and Mary unknown, place of birth also unknown - not much chance of finding them!
