You've mentioned applying to the GRO for a BC.
Do remember that many people didn't bother registering births prior to 1873. Although they were supposed to, that is when a fine was introduced. :-0

Hello Everyone, Firstly ....thank you. Yes, my Thomas Henry was not a skilled man...Jack of all Trades comes to mind. I looked through all the 1871 & 1881 cens. for a suitable Thomas...dropped the Henry, but after careful elimination there was no one.
Tried other surnames like Jefferies/jefferys/Jeffers as well.
There were no other Jeffersons in Wales in '71, '81, '91 seems T.H.came alone. Someone suggested Thomas Henry could be Illeg. but James Jefferson is shown on his bapt. & marr.
If James died prior to Cen'71 and Jane remarr. then it may be poss.that he took step dads name and reverted to Jeferson for his own marr.
Maybe I should concentrate on Thos. Hry. born 1866 accord. to death & marr and 1867 by bapt. find the most suitable Birth reg and apply to the GRO using Thomas, James and Jane Jefferson and hope I get lucky. Forgetting James & Jane for the moment as I have no substantial data for either.
I believe if all criteria isn't met the GRO refund...bit risky I suppose.
Don't know what else to do. Other option is GIVE UP. I've had folk missing in one census but never two. I'm grateful to you all, Elizabeth

Hi, Still searching for the elusive Jeffersons....
Looked at Genuki and found Guisborough is a mile from Ayres Quay ( Bishopswearmouth )
Found a birth for Thomas Jefferson J/S 1864...a bit early with the dates on Census' and death age but not too far away.
On 1861 JAS Jefferson is in Guisborough aged 16 an App. Clay Miner born in Egton.
More research ....
Bye Elizabeth

Second marriage to Sarah Ann Evans A/J 1867 she died O/D 1870 aged 23 this was AGNES' mother. Agnes was bt 30.10.1870 St Brides Netherwent. Third marriage to Margaret ? can't actually fine the marriage Cen '71 in Five Lanes Netherwent has Mgt and JHON Thomas 4 children for this liason.
John Thomas born 1823-26 Undy Mon died 10th March 1905 aged 82 in Chepstow Wk Hse.
Quite happy with that side it's the Jeffersons I've got a problem.
i don't think we have a close connection with the Devon family but not 100%
Yes Chris, I have notes from orig. thread.
I must concentrate on James and Jane ....and see what I can find.
So very grateful for all your help. Elizabeth

I think this is probably the death of James, Thomas's father, but I can't seem to find him on 1871.
Chepstow is right by Magor, Caerwent and Newport:

Hi,
Sorry Chris.....definately not paying attention. This Baptism is my THOMAS HENRY.
Need a clear head tomorrow.....lots of James & Jane Jefferson in Durham in 1881.
I thought the Cen 1891 was my Thomas. His daughter was Margaret Annie reg J/M 1888 Npt M. and wife Agnes was from Magor near St Brides Netherwent. With the confusion I've caused I'm doubting every thing now....... Some serious checking of everything required.
