Thank you Kay, I live South West way but I might have to make a journey to Birmingham to check it out as I'm really deadset on finding out what happened to him now!

How can i tell if that is the Richard George Ward i'm related to, or another Richard George Ward i've come across who was born, married, and died in Bromley? There was a photo of that Bromley Richard Ward on here, and he was wearing a soldier's uniform. That would explain why I've found two references to Richard G D (George Devereux as stated on birth certificate and marriage certificate) in the postal service things for 1937 and 1946.

Kay????

Library of Birmingham
Bridgend Reference and Information Library
City of Westminster Archives Centre
Manchester Central Library
Newcastle City Library
Plymouth Central Library
The British Library (you’ll need to register first )

If you live close to any of these places they have indexed B/D or should have, for at least till last year.2013.

Haha, we all have them! Although it is entirely possible that one was born just before midnight and one after?

Gritty

It's the same as his twin

Felicity

Felicity Report 10 Oct 2014 16:39

Gritty, if that death certificate for William Arthur D Ward in Somerset is in fact his brother, then it states the date of birth as 5th March 1912, which would tie in with the births actually being registered in 2nd quarter, Apr, May, Jun 1912 as I think people didn't always register births the next day like we do!

So I'm going to take a guess at 5th March 1912, but it was definitely the first 6 months of 1912.

In the town where I live, there are a number of people aged over 100

One set of sisters are 109, 106 and 102

To find death notices after 2007, try looking at :

Wow, thanks Jacqueline! That's so cool! I have loads to tell my dad now, thank you.

Gins, I didn't realise that. Perhaps he was really old and that's why I can't find the record, thank you. I was driving myself a bit mad searching for it. Do they release them at certain intervals (like with the census's?)

That's great, thank you so much. If you have any tips on how I can find death notices for him other than the search on here, that would be greatly appreciated. I don't see how he could still be alive.

Hi

Richard could have lived a long life and if he died after 2007 if so there will be no index ref shown online

Failing that he may have gone overseas

Oh wow, thank you so much, that is so much more than I had found! I knew he had a twin, as I noticed the name on the same birth register and put two and two together.

I still don't understand how Jessie fits in. Perhaps an aunt or something?

I think Jane died in 1960, which would account for her not being present in 1962.

I've found him listed as a postman in 1937 in London (which fits with him marrying Marjorie in 1939) and again in Birmingham after her death. Where did you find the info on him signing up for the army please? :-D

Felicity

Felicity Report 10 Oct 2014 14:39

I cannot find a death certificate for an estranged relative of mine.

His name was Richard G D Ward, and I've found both his birth certificate and a wedding certificate. Shortly after he married my paternal grandmother (Marjorie Henniker), she gave birth to my dad and died. He left my dad to be raised by Marjorie's mum and my dad never saw him again. We are certain that he lived in Birmingham, and I've found a 1950 and 1955 document relating to him living there with a Jane Ward (who I believe was his mother, nee Devereux) and a Jessie Ward, who I have no idea about. There are no other marriage records for him, and I can't find a death record. I'd really love to know more about this man as he was my grandfather.

Any help or tips to find more out about him would be truly gratefully received. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't still be alive since he was born in 1912.
