Not free, but you could try the 1915 Valuation Rolls on Scotlandspeople. |

Thanks for letting us know Sylann. So often details on marriage registrations are a wee bit of a coverup. OHs grandfather gave fictional details for his Dad on his first marriage and nothing on his second. In fact his birth registration had an RCE ( Register of Corrected Entries) reference naming his father - with a completely different surname! If you look up George's birth, check if there is an RCE naming his father. Sometimes the mother went to Court to have paternity proved and this would be recorded in the RCE on the birth register. |

Of course, none of this helps find out what happened to George. |

Well if we are right, his Great Grandmother died after Statutory registration began so hopefully the informant knew her parents names. |

A possible for George in 1891 - the POB for his grandfather is the same as for the James posted in the 1871: |

Does he give his father's occupation on the marriage cert and his address at the time. This family looks as if it might be connected - there is a birth in 1873 for a George Wight, Mother Lydia Wight - no father mentioned: |
