Hi there, I am looking for any information on F.W Oscar Vetter, his wife Rosa and their children. I know that the family were circus artistes and later Music Hall Artistes. F. W Oscar Vetter was born in Berlin, Germany in 1851. I am not sure when he joined the circus but I know that he married a lady called Rosa and had three children. F W was known as Oscar and he has an entry in Turners' Circus guide. I know that in 1911. Oscar was living in London and was about 59 years old. I cannot find a death certificate for either Oscar or Rosa in U.K records. Did they emigrate to another country perhaps? If anyone has information about this family, I would love to hear from you. Thank you

Just via Google found your post from 2011 on Ancestry message board, did you find out if this message refered to your RD Alfred Vetter?

"Dear Karolyn
I have my mother's autograph book, stage name Billie Lipsett (somerimes spelt Lippsette) and one of the entries is a beautifully drawn picture of my mother from, I think, the show 'Orders is Orders' as she is depicted in uniform. It is signed by Dimitri Vetter' Margate and dated 1930. Do tou think this is your grandfather?"

edit which I see you have on your tree on Ancestry anyway.
Not seeing any death for Oscar or Rosa though, or travel records.
I wonder if he might have been interned during WW1? or returned to Germany beforehand?

Dear Rambling Rose I have not heard if Oscar was interned during WW1. I do know that my Grandfather Dimitri was interned at the beginning of WW2 but was later released as he had three English children and was married to a scottish lady. The authorities did not consider he was a threat to this country. It is just a mystery as to what happened to Oscar & Rosa. It is a pity that there is no one in the family who is alive to point me in the right direction. I will try looking through the death records in Germany. Thank you. Karolyn

or I wonder, with the onset of war if Oscar changed his surname?

Good find Chris- at 89 the age could fit.
Edit: Just found another article relating- his full name was Otto Vetter. So not him :(
