Find Ancestors

Help needed trying to trace the death of William Thomas Price brn 1876 Pontrilas. He must of died between 1917 and 1919 as his wife re married 1920. Also the last child was born in 1917. I have found a record for british army service record soldier 1618 Royal Engineers born Pontrilas but don't have this facility on genes. Could anyone please look up for me to see if he died in service. Thanks in advance.

I couldn't find him there so I am not sure if he died a soldier or perhaps of injuries after. William Price is quite a common name also.

He had been a mason, wife was Hannah Annie Gardiner married 10 Nov 1904 by Arthur J Bannister, vicar.
Between 1899 and 1903, he had been on S Africa campaign based in St Helena.
He was discharged in 1910.

I am sorry I don't quite understand this document does it mean he joined up 1898 or was he discharged then any ideas, all help appreciated

Not finding a death in Herefordshire for him though.

Thanks everyone for above extremely helpful but now I need to find a death between 1917 and 19 as re marriage in 1920 unless they divorced

As an aside, his younger brother also joined up.

Perhaps Broom is the English census enumerator's attempt at a Welsh name.

From a quick Google search, I see there's a Broom Lane and a Broom House in Raglan, Usk, Monmouthshire - maybe a clue??

Just a note on the original query for William Thomas Price- I don't see any evidence of a second name 'Thomas'. He's only William on the census, miltary record and his marriage in 1904.

Where did the Thomas come from?

I think his wife remarried a William Thomas

Its very confusing I was told by family member that he was William Thomas Price but found no record to this I was also told that William had died before Hannah remarried but found no evidence of death . I have found a William price 1803 born llantilio crossenny Raglan and on the 1851 census it says living white cross Monmouth. now there is a white cross, Broom I will try and work that family forward to see if there is a connection
