Transcripts of two Ashford, Kent wills that mention William Pope blacksmith, who is probably the William husband of Maria, and parent of William Pope c1812 and John William Cooper Pope c1807:

http://www.kentarchaeology.org.uk/Research/01/ASH/04/01p.htm

Mary Pope, widow PRC17 - 104/138
1 July, 1807

to son William Pope of Ashford, blacksmith - silver mug<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

dau. Elizabeth King, wid., & two grandchildren Margaret & Mary Pope (daughters of William ) - all clothes, between them

to daughter Fanny Pope - all furniture

daughters Sarah, wife of David Truseller of Deptford, glazier, Mary Snow, widow, Elizabeth King, widow, Ann, wife of John Rogers of Ashford, baker, Fanny Pope, & son Richard Pope all monies, etc., between them

Executor : John Thomas Pacj, grocer & Charles Bradley, druggist, both of Ashford.

Witness : Henry Kennett and Charles P. Cowtan, clerk to R. G. Delasaux

Probate ; 8 May, 1809
bur. 30 March,. 1808

also:

John Pope, grocer PRC17 - 105/446

4 October, 1817

to be buried near first wife, in Ashford churchyard

to nephew William Pope of Ashford, blacksmith - messuage or tenement, previously in two dwellings, but now one, with forge, etc., in Ashford, previously occupied by William Batmanson and Frances Hayward, now John Pope, and all goods.

Executor. : William Pope

Witness : Richard Crittenden of Ashford, carrier. William Harrison of Ashford, ostler and J. Sparrow, land surveyor.

Probate : 23 November, 1818 to executor bur. 2 November, 1818

Interestingly, the first will mentions clothes left to Margaret & Mary Pope, grand children, daurs of William.

The William Pope who married Maria Cooper in 1901 was a widower. If it is the William and Maria who raised family at Ashford, then maybe the two girls are children by a previous marriage?

Also still speculating, but Ashford parish record transcripts have a William Pope baptised c1773:

1773 Jan 10 c . . . . . William, son of William & Mary<<<<<<<<<<<<<
1778 Jul 19 c . . . . . Frances, dau. of -do-.

( Frances may be the daur Fanny mentioned in the will of Mary Pope)
and a burial in 1828:

1829 Apl 15 b . . . . . William, 56 yrs.

http://www.kentarchaeology.org.uk/Research/01/ASH/01/00p.htm

This may be the death of William Pope husband of Mary, as we know from the will she was a widow by 1807:

1800 Sep 4 b . . . . . William

These look like they might be the granddaughters mentioned in Mary Pope's will, in which case it looks like William the blacksmith was married to a Mary before he married Maria.

1795 Jul 12 c . . . . . Mary, dau. of William & Mary
1797 Nov 26 c . . . . . Margaret, dau. of -do-

Uncle John Pope the grocer who left William Pope the blacksmith property in his will dated 1817, died in 1817 aged 82 years:

1817 Dec 9 b . . . . . John, aged 82 yrs.

This might be his birth, together with that of his brother William, father to William the blacksmith....?

1732 May 21 c . . . . . William, son of William & Mary
1734 Jan 1 c . . . . . John, son of -do-.

Again, taken from the Ashford parish transcripts for' Pope'
