Have you looked for his birth on scotlandspeople site? |

His birth is coming up scotlandspeople - you would need to buy credits and order the extract which will give you his parents' names and the date and place of their marriage; |

Up to now, sadly he is gone, his birthday was always been on the 7th April and was told his year of birth was 1926. Scotlands People shows two hits - Alex Milligan and James Milligan and the year as 1925 - does this mean he is has a twin? |

James, I am not getting anything for either Alex or James with the middle name Milligan. Is the surname Whitelaw or Milligan? |

James, by far the cheapest way to research Scottish records is to visit either The Scotlandspeople Centre in Edinburgh or The Mitchell library in Glasgow in person. The cost of a days research is around £15 and you can view as many entries as time permits. Printouts of births more than 100 years ago, marriages 75 years and deaths 50 years cost 50p. Although you can't take printouts of more recent events you can view them and make notes. |

Thanks rootgather. My problem is that I am in exile from the mother country and it isn't easy to get up there to spend a day in the library but next - wife can go shopping and i will go researching!!!! |
