Do you think he was born as Lawrence Jarvis & his mother subsequently married Laws & he added his stepfather´s name to his own. |

Thankyou Detective and Flip ( love the names). I will have a go at those leads tomorrow ( 10. 30 pm here in OZ) >> Thanks again for your help. I am a bit rusty at this as I have had a break from the family research in the last two years, but it is starting to all come back to me. Only have my fathers side to complete. My mothers was an amazing journey, with a diversity of Characters, mixing with royalty and beggars. One even survived the Titanic. And one was on the Mayflower in 1620. Can't wait for my fathers tree to come alive, so to speak. xx Have a great day . |

We wouldn't be looking in Somerset, as the family were in Pontypool area by 1915 - although I don't know exactly when. If she was packed off then the search would be around Pontypool. However, if she was already in London before getting pregnant, we should be looking in London. |

Funny thing is though they adopted their first child a daughter then went on to have two of their own !! Just looked at my records, she did not marry until later so the new hubby was not the reason ... |

Her family are from Burnham on Sea Somerset. Her father and mother were in The Salvation Army so you perhaps have to add that she may have been raped ? She was well cared for I know that and she hung on to my dad for three years, so her new husband must have insisted she give him up, So Sad |

I wonder whether she was packed off to London when pregnant, so we would be looking for the father back in her home town. |

I have met Whitelock family members through GR and have some photos, she was in the Salvation Army as was members of her Family. She married an Atkinson. And was a lovely lady by all accounts. Sadly my father and grandmother never met, and they both died in recent years :( But know one knows who L J laws was at all. I only received info on Beatrice herself and received copies of the hospital documents after hiring a researcher with the Salvation Army, and found she was part of the Salvo's all along. Thanks Flip x |

There's a tree on ancestry with attached photo and birth cert - also has details of her siblings. it is claiming she married in 1947 in Edmondton - and there is a Beatrice May Whitelock on the London ERs up to 1939 - so did she ever return to her family I wonder. |

Sorry detective and Shirley my internet kept dropping out. 3 Kemble Rd is the answer detective. Your bringing up the same as me Shirley. Looking at their ages I don't think that is them. I am finding Jarvis laws, but they seem to be born late 1700's and mid 1800's, perhaps he is a descendant ,but you would think there would be a birth record.. frustrating. |

Which marriage are you attributing to Beatrice please? I can only see 2, neither would be when your father was 3 years old. |

Was just trying to establish a time-line. If we could work out were she was living 9 months previously, there is more chance of finding a Lawrence Laws, even if his middle name wasn't Jarvis! |

Yes That's correct Detective :) I have her tree and have done well with that. But Lawrence Jarvis Laws remains a mystery. I can't find one Person with the middle name Jarvis.. He is a mystery. |

Do you have a house number for Kemble Road? Although she wouldn't have been eligible to vote, it might be possible to find out who she was living with. They may have no connection to the father, but could be other Whitelock relatives. |
