Hi, I am trying to find out about an ancestor called James McCourt, possibly born around 1860, possibly in Ireland. I'm interested in finding out which county he was born in and anything else about the family. |

Thanks for that Gins. I'm not sure if that's him - my James McCourt's wife was called Mary. Although I guess Catherine could be his sister or a second wife. |

Photo of death cert says he died by drinking carbolic acid while he was temporarily insane. |

Thanks very much PricklyHolly, safc and Mike. PricklyHolly, that definitely looks like the right Mable. Mike, the carbolic acid is alarming! |

Thanks so much everyone. Great to have those marriage cert details, PricklyHolly. It seems that Owen McCourt is more likely the father and that Barnard McCourt must belong to a different James McCourt. |

Incidentally there is no Devon birth for a James McCourt around 1852. |
