Hi everyone, Can you help, I have lost track of William Young born 1876 Liverpool. I have been told His parents (John Young and Sarah nee Oakes) died when he was young and he moved to America, Pennsylvania with his sisters Lily and Jane. I have a feeling he married twice, he was back in Liverpool, Birkenhead or Preston early 1900's, married Annie Fernandez in 1907, she was 10 years younger than him. They had 9 children who survived. He seems to have worked on the railways. He died c1949 and Annie remarried, she died in Holywell, north wales in 1956.
I am looking to find his 1st wife as I can't find him in America. In the 1901 census he seems to be living with his parents, siblings and a wife, Elizabeth?? Am I barking up the wrong tree?

Janet Where did you get the information from that his father was called John. According to the marriage records his father was Thomas Edward. He was a Bachelor when he married Annie and his father Thomas was a labourer. Witnesses were John Charles Smith and Mary E. Dawson Are you sure you are on the right track? Is he a direct relative?
I'm figuring that this is him in 1901 because of the presence of Mary Dawson
Name: William Young Age: 26 Estimated birth year: abt 1875 Relation to Head: Boarder Gender: Male Birth Place: Liverpool Civil Parish: Everton Ecclesiastical parish: St Ambrose County/Island: Lancashire Household Members: Name Age Charles Dawson 35 Mary E Dawson 32 Marian Dawson 12 Alice Dawson 15 Albert Young 29 William Young 26
Both William and what looks like his brother Albert are dock labourers. Mary E Dawson is his sister Mary Ellen. She married Charles Dawson in 1886.
So maybe this is him in 1881 with his parents

When and where were Lily and Jane born?
This does look to be 2 different families, what you need to work out is which one is the correct one?
Someone on ancestry has this :-
William Young (Kane Family Tree) Birth: Jan-Feb-Mar 1876 (Jan 1876) - Lancashire, England Marriage: 29 Jul 1906 - Liverpool, Lancashire Death: Dec 1949 - Liverpool, Lancashire, England Parents: Thomas Young, Jane Mason Spouse: Annie Fernandez
.........which fits with the marriage.

This looks to be the family safc found in 1901:-
1901 England Census about William Young Name: William Young Age: 25 Estimated birth year: abt 1876 Relation to Head: Son Gender: Male Spouse: Elizabeth Young Father: John Young Mother: Sarah Young Birth Place: Liverpool, Lancashire, England Civil Parish: Liscard Ecclesiastical parish: New Brighton St James Town: New Brighton County/Island: Cheshire Country: England Street address:
Occupation: Painter House
Registration district: Birkenhead Sub-registration district: Wallasey ED, institution, or vessel: 2 Neighbors: View others on page Piece: 3401 Folio: 43 Page Number: 18 Household schedule number: 70 Household Members: Name Age John Young 51 - Cab Driver Goom Sarah Young 49 Lily Young 23 Jane Young 31 James Young 20 Sarah Young 13 John Young 11 William Young 25 - Married Elizabeth Young 26 - Daughter in Law
.................so even with this family the parents didn't die when the children were young?
However, ancestry does give a link to parents John and Sarah in 1910 & 1920 American census?

Thanks for your reply, I can't believe how helpful people are!
The family you have found, with Thomas and Jane Young as the parents of William seems to be on the right track.
William named his children almost exactly the same as those of his parents.
My mother-in-law is his youngest daughter.
Her siblings were Jane, Ada, Elizabeth, Emma, Alice, Albert, Marian and William. Thanks
Jan
